From August 3 to 18, 2012 OperettenSommer Kufstein will be presenting one of the all-time great operetta classics, Emmerich Kálmán's Gräfin Mariza.

Alongside Die Csárdásfürstin, Gräfin Mariza counts as one of Emmerich Kálmán's most successful works. The operetta has everything that a true Austrian operetta must have: love, heartbreak, delusions and confusions that all resolve to a happy end. Fiery csárdás rhythms, melancholy gypsy music and hits such as "Komm mit nach Varazdin" and "Komm Zigan, spiel mir was vor!" enhance the story and, together with lively dancing and good-natured humor, promise first-class musical entertainment.

OperettenSommer Kufstein is one of the absolute highlights of Tyrol's summer cultural events. The combination of top stars from the Volksoper Vienna and younger, highly talented artists, who play their roles with verve and charm, is what gives productions at Kufstein Fortress their special appeal.

The operetta will be staged at Kufstein Fortress, one of Tyrol's most impressive medieval structures. The fortress courtyard on Josefsburg with its weatherproof roof provides the unique setting for a "dry" and lively operetta performance.
